Thanks Bryan. I'd stick with the free plan too since I'm in the same boat. The iPad would be a nice luxury, but I don't think it would be worth another ongoing fee of $30 per month when I'm paying two internet bills already.

You do not have to have a plan with AT&T. There is a WiFi model and a 3G model. The 3G model costs an additional $30 a month for unlimited data. I would have to get the WiFi model since I pay for internet with my iPhone and internet at home.

Thanks Bill. The cloud is coming and with the release of the iPad and the popularity of netbooks growing, the need and dependence of the cloud is growing. Not to mention that these days individuals have more than one device and need to get to their data no matter where they are or what type of computer they happen to be using at the moment, smartphone, laptop, home computer, coffee shop, etc. And You right about the need for securing our data in the cloud.

Bryan, I'd love to get in iPad eventually. Do you have to have a plan with AT&T though? I wonder what the additional charge per month is or if there is some sort of wireless internet installed already in the iPad.

Thanks Ryan. I do not have an iPad and as of right now I do not plan on getting one. They look like a very useful device and because of their low price, I can image in the not so distant future a house will have 3 or 4 iPad devices: one in the kitchen to view recipes, one in the living room to control your TV and other things, etc. Do you think you might get an iPad?

Hi Bryan, Thank you so much for this helpful walk-through tutorial. It's exciting that we're headed this way....and with a little since of apprehension in terms of security of our data. We're looking to you for help on moving to the "cloud" environment.

Also, I received an email this morning about "Change Is Coming" and #8 speaks about your post.

"8. The "Things" That You Own. Many of the very possessions that we used to own are still in our lives, but we may not actually own them in the future. They may simply reside in "the cloud." Today your computer has a hard drive and you store your pictures, music, movies, and documents. Your software is on a CD or DVD, and you can always re-install it if need be. But all of that is changing. Apple, Microsoft, and Google are all finishing up their latest "cloud services." That means that when you turn on a computer, the Internet will be built into the operating system. So, Windows, Google, and the Mac OS will be tied straight into the Internet. If you click an icon, it will open something in the Internet cloud. If you save something, it will be saved to the cloud. And you may pay a monthly subscription fee to the cloud provider. "
